Meet Priyadarshini Sahoo
Hello, I’m Priyadarshini Sahoo. My hometown is Odisha, India. I have experience in training, education, academic support, and tutoring. I have worked as a Training Coordinator, developing and delivering training programs, and have also supported high school students with academic planning and individual growth plans. More recently, I have worked with elementary and middle school students, providing academic intervention and tutoring in Math and English/Language Arts. I also have experience providing individualized and small-group support to help students strengthen foundational skills, close learning gaps, and build confidence. Fun fact about is that I enjoy gardening and love growing plants and experimenting with different types of flowers and vegetables. I also enjoy drawing and painting.

How would you describe your tutoring style?
My tutoring style is patient, supportive, and adaptable. I use hands-on activities, practical examples, and creative strategies to make learning engaging. I try to make learning a fun experience. I believe a great learning environment is one where students feel safe, supported, and comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. It should also be engaging and encouraging, so students feel confident to participate and take an active role in their learning.
What do you enjoy most about tutoring?
What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing a student who initially struggles with a concept gradually begin to understand it and gain confidence. It is very rewarding to know that I can help students not only improve academically but also develop a more positive attitude toward learning.
How do you help students who feel stuck or lack confidence?
I first try to understand what is making the student feel stuck and identify where the difficulty begins. I break the concept into smaller, manageable steps and start with something the student can successfully do. By providing encouragement and gradually increasing the challenge, I help students build confidence and realize that they are capable of learning.
What is a moment or outcome with a student that made you proud?
One moment that made me especially proud was when the classroom teacher congratulated me because two of my fourth-grade students showed an 80% improvement on their STAR assessments. These students had been struggling initially, so seeing such significant growth was very rewarding. It made me proud to know that the extra support, encouragement, and individualized instruction I provided had a positive impact on their academic progress.
What do you love about Math Man Olmedo Tutoring Center?
I love that Math Man Olmedo Tutoring Center focuses on understanding each student's individual needs and helping them build both academic skills and confidence. I especially appreciate the focus on guiding students to become more independent learners rather than simply giving them the answers.
