Meet Tyler Fowler

Hello, I’m Tyler Fowler. My hometown is Kansas City, MO. My career experience includes two years of government research and biomedical device design, five years of software development, and five years of teaching (spread amongst math, physics, and computer science) Fun fact about is I love cats, guitars, and computers! I worked in software for about 5 years before I couldn't stand not teaching anymore. Now I get to play music with students and talk about computers all day!

Bio

How would you describe your tutoring style?

I like to bring a relaxed, fun, team-oriented atmosphere. If we look as challenges as things to overcome together, it can be a fun and relaxed environment while still being productive. A great learning environment is free of judgement, full of questions, and fun!

What do you enjoy most about tutoring?

I like to stick to a relaxed atmosphere with tutoring. It is fun working with people on topics, approaching it different ways, and of course the 'a ha!' moments!

How do you help students who feel stuck or lack confidence?

Students who are feeling stuck or lack confidence often just needs a step back. Usually they know more than they think, and it might just be a couple gaps left. Once those gaps are identified and solidified, people usually have a lot more confidence

What is a moment or outcome with a student that made you proud?

Some of the most proud days of my teaching career have been going to watch my students compete in sports, win scholarships, and their side projects. Watching students succeed, in and out of the classroom, is always the best part.

What do you love about Math Man Olmedo Tutoring Center?

I love the opportunity to work with students from all over the country. I believe tutors learn from their students as much as the students learn from their tutors. Being able to be on a team with a lot of different people keeps things fun!
